I know. I know. I said I would keep writing after the honeymoon….and then there was almost six months of nothing. I am the WORST! You see, it’s hard to write about what’s going on when there’s nothing really going on (and after that honeymoon, how can anything less than epic adventures seem worthy of writing about?)
So yeah, I’m gonna try to get back in the habit of writing here. Since it’s been a while, I should probably catch y’all up on what’s been going on:
We moved to Arizona! After about a month of trespassing on my parent’s generosity after the road trip ended, we found an apartment (the most boring apartment I’ve ever had) somewhat nearby. The complex is pretty cool – dog friendly, which is nice for Luke (they even have the tiniest off leash dog park in the world) and filled with Asian pilots and Indian (dot, not feather) call center employees. They all seem very nice – although rather afraid of Luke so we don’t talk so much as nod politely as we pass each other on the sidewalk. It’s conveniently located and cheap, so it’ll do for now.
I got myself a job working for my favorite company in the world (forgive me for not mentioning the name here, but I would like to stay employed thankyouverymuch!) and the best part is that I get to work from home. They even sent me a shiny new computer to work on. Sweetness! The cool thing about living in AZ is that the cost of living is so low (especially compared to what we were used to!) that my salary is enough to pay our bills, which leaves Mike free to do stuff for our little business venture. That’s right – the Taylor’d Design has his (mostly) undivided attention. (And I get an awesome house husband out of the deal.)
We’ve been enjoying hanging out with my family and their friends – Mike even has his very own Fantasy Football team so he’s truly been assimilated. They keep us pretty busy, although their schedules baffle us a bit. It’s not unusual for them to call it a night at 8 or 9 o’clock on a Friday or Saturday night. My bartender brain has a hard time with this, so I think we really need to find some friends to hang out with after our current crowd calls it quits.
Having said that, we miss our Seattle, Boston, and Santa Monica friends! As soon as we get the old bank account back up to an acceptable level, some visits are definitely in order. In the meantime though, you all could come visit us! The weather here has finally turned and it’s nice enough that we’ve turned off the A/C in favor of open windows and nice fall breezes. It might be just what the doctor ordered for those of you who live where it’s cold and rainy (snowy?) all winter.
So yeah, I hope to be throwing more stuff up here on a semi-regular basis now (I figure if my life isn’t exciting enough to write about, I must be doing something wrong!) so please harass me a bit if I miss more than a few days between posts!
